ME ABOUT ME
What started as a little girl's fascination with the Divas of Jazz led to a singing career which at this moment spans more than 30 years.
THEN & NOW:
After more than three decades on stage, I am still intrigued by being a singer and stage artist.
During my career, I have covered a wide repertoire, including Lied, Oratorio and contemporary works. My instrument and my mentality make the dramatic repertoire my ideal habitat—over the past 30 years, I have successfully sung the dramatic repertoire: Elektra, Kundry, Turandot, Marschallin/ Rosenkavalier, Ellen Orford/ Peter Grimes, Cassandre/ Les Troyens, , Carmen, Madame de Croissy/ Carmelites, Erda, Marta, to name but a few.
I personally experienced the challenges that come with a voice of considerable size and richness. I initially performed as a contralto, but subsequently my voice demanded that I expand my repertoire first to dramatic mezzo-soprano, then to hochdramatischer soprano.
My personal artistic path required me to engage deeply with myself and my instrument, as well as to work seriously and responsibly to master the challenges ahead. Having to overcome a vocal crisis caused by inadequate vocal advice in the middle of my career, I had to retrain technically
STAGE TO STUDIO:
This formative process has had a direct influence on my decision to work with young singers. Therefore, parallel to my personal stage work, I am a dedicated and enthusiatic teacher. Passing on my passion for music and musical theater, I am sharing my extensive, multifaceted expertise with the next generation of singers.
Since 2021 I am Professor of Singing at the HEM/ Haute École de Musique Genève/Neuchâtel Switzerland. At Maastricht Conservatorium Netherlands I am Senior Lecturer in Solo Singing and Opera at the since 2014. From 2020 t0 2023 I was Professor of Vocal Studies at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, Belgium.
Over time, I have developed my personal vision of singer training over time.
The focus is always on full individual development, vocally as well as artistically. Voice training and singing technique, synchronization of body and mind, musicality, and style are the pillars of this training. Solid craftsmanship and a creative, innovative approach to classical music come together, empowering the singers to develop their full vocal and artistic potential.
With this goal in mind, I have made it my mission to actively educate, accompany and support emerging artists in discovering their signature sound as well as their artistic identity.
VOCAL MASTERY. ARTISTIC IDENTITY.
