Picture
I am Professeure de Chant at the HEM Haute École de Musique de Genève/ Neuchâtel,
as well as Senior Professor of Solosinging & Opera at Maastricht Conservatorium (NL).
Also, I maintain a private studio where I provide technical guidance, repertoire coaching and career counseling for singers.

Masterclasses e.g. the Academy of Opera - Oslo National Academy of the Arts, the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, the Conservatorio di Musica Luigi Cherubini, the Conservatório de Música de Coimbra as well as External Expert- and Juryduty for HEMU Haute École de Musique de Lausanne,  DNOA Dutch National Opera Academy,  HKB Hochschule der Künste Bern complete my professional teaching activities.

VISION & MISSION

My objective as a teacher and mentor is to help emerging singers to discover their individual instrument and unleash their full artistic potential.

I draw on my wealth of personal experience to prepare my students. The lessons cover all aspects of singing, voice training, interpretation, everyday stage life and career, as well as vocal hygiene.

I place great emphasis on bodywork and incorporating the findings of voice research. Singers receive a concise and systematic approach to voice training based on the Swedish-Italian vocal method used by great masters of the past and present such as Kirsten Flagstad, Birgit Nilsson, Jussi Björling and others. The emphasis lies on vocal and physical alignment, balancing registration, opening the middlevoice and stabilizing the the passagi, thereby creating a resonating round tone through all vocal registers.

The overarching goal is to encourage the singers  to become specialists for their own vocal and emotional instrument, to help them to develop into convincing, independent performers: artists with a vibrant, reliable vocality and a compellingly strong authentic stage presence:
Vocally competent, musically confident and authentically expressive, equipped with the tools necessary for healthy singing and a successful career on opera stage and concert hall.

WHAT & HOW

Aware of the demands of our profession, I assist to develop the singer's personal “toolbox":

  • Release of vocal control through auditory perception:
              Feeling instead of hearing!
  • Awareness of open resonance
  • Physiological posture
  • Body-breath-voice connection and natural breathing patterns
  • Vocal and register balance
  • Speech and articulation of speech, its nuances
  • Expression and emotion
  • Connecting the voice to one's own inner voice
  • Musical interpretation/awareness of different musical styles
  • Operatic Role study
  • Rehabilitation of singers with voice problems, promotion of voice health, voice care.
  • Preparation for auditions, performances, and concerts
  • Stage craft: all aspects of stage presentation & acting
  • Positive self-image
  • Career planning & personal development
